We booked our Medan airport to Bukit Lawang transport and the jungle trek with them. From the time of booking till we left the place; Brian and his team were extremely helpful. Sarah cooked delicious dinner for the night. The place is value for money and they even provide good breakfast. Our tour guide for the forest trek was Rosyid & his assistant Theo. They were absolutely amazing and the best throughout. I could complete my trek on the last day because of their motivation throughout. We can't recommend them enough. The food that they served during trek was also really good. Rosyid and Theo went out of their way to help a random guy during the trek who was unwell and made sure to give him the medicines and took extremely good care of him till he got better and help arrived. It didn't matter to him if the guy was part of our group or no and that shows how professional and caring they are. Magic tricks by Rosyid at the campsite was very entertaining. There was also Manto who cooked extremely delicious dinner and breakfast for us and helped with the river tubing. Would definitely recommend staying at Sumatra Thomas Leaf Monkey Guesthouse in Bukit Lawang.

Robert was great at getting back to me with questions I had. The place is very clean, comfortable bed. I had an excellent meal there. Hot shower. The view is beautiful. The place is located in a more secluded area, not near the city but very close to the ferry.

Upon arrival at the discovery villa, we were greeted by Tyson and a delicious watermelon juice, while he walked us through the planning of the next couple days. Every guide we had was very knowledgeable ( Dany walked us through the jungle, he stopped often to show us some plants and of course the various monkeys/ orangutans) and always seemed very happy! The food was very diverse and delicious, especially the juices😋 The whole trip felt like pure holidays, we did something everyday but never felt rushed or stressed as the guides were usually flexible! Everything was absolutely amazing, we would definitely recommend staying there and take contact if there is any special requests, they are always happy to help their hosts!! We will hopefully be back one day!

The room was very comfortable, we had everything what we needed. It has a big terrace, big enogh to do yoga or just relax comfortably. Their kitchen is very good, breakfast and dinner are available, but they also made lunch for us the day when we arrived and was very hungry. There are just a few bungalows, it's really cosy and private.

The nearest airport is Sisingamangaraja XII International Airport, 130 km from the guest house. Everything. It’s a wonderful, peaceful place with a great spot to watch the sunset. The owners are also very lovely and helpful people - they recommended many things and are just really nice to chat to as well. They built the hotel themselves! Excellent, very clean and new rooms with a comfy bed and balcony.

Let me stay in a slightly more expensive room inside without paying the difference and got a ride back to the guesthouse from the city center at night. I wasn’t there for long but definitely felt it was a good deal for the price. It is pretty far from the center of butik lawang. You can walk it in 20min or get a tuktuk for 30rp. The walk is nice. You get to see another side to the area.
