We stayed 2 nights in Ollantaytambo and in the mean time we went from here to Machu Picchu. I would defitnetly recommend to stay in Ollantaytambo easily 2 nights and specifically in this location. This is the town where you take the train to aguas calientes, this hotel is literally 5 minutes walking from the train station which is why we chose this. The staff is super friendly, they have a beautiful garden and a really nice breakfast. It was the first breakfast where we received watermelon and papaya for breakfast which was great (amongst other things). This was definetly our favorite breakfast of the whole trip. Oh yeah and the first time real fresh bread. Bonus point is they are right next to Chullpi which was our favorite hotspot for coffee, local beers and lunch!

The hotel is a bit far away from the main town and transportation is not that easy. As such, we stayed at the hotel for dinner.

Ollantaytambo, the hidden gem of the Sacred Valley ! more people should investigate and spend their time in Ollantaytambo, instead of booking their time in Cusco or anywhere else, within the Sacred Valley. We made Ollantaytambo our home base for our Sacred Valley...
We made Ollantaytambo our home base for our Sacred Valley visit and were glad we did. It was small enough to walk everywhere, the train station, the square, the archaeological park, the original pre-colonial section of town. We visited in the low season in the last half of February and enjoyed the smaller number of visitors.

We messed up our communication and did not get tickets to Machu Picchu. Do your research and purchase tickets BEFORE you arrive…months in advance for high season. Nevertheless we toured the archeological wonders of the Sacred Valley— Temples of the sun and moon and more. It was very spiritually powerful and architecturally awe inspiring, did not feel like a consolation prize for missing MP…. Just a reason to come back. Do not miss this tour if you are hire… and hire the guide. It’s worth it. Food was great here too.

We loved this town. In total we stayed 3 nights.
We loved this town. In total we stayed 3 nights. And would've preferred to stay another night instead of returning to Cusco. The restaurants are plenty and good, the people are so nice, and the coffee shops are nice. Hiking all around, and the ruins and market are enjoyable.
Both walking everywhere is good and getting a taxi is also easy.
What a fabulous stay! When you are in Ollantaytambo this is the hotel to stay at. The owner is a very kind man who goes above and beyond. After a long day of exploring, he made a wood-burning fire for us. He also helped us print out our Machu Picchu tickets, told us about off the beaten path hikes, stored our luggage for us, and gave restaurant recommendations. Centrally located in town and a short walk to the train station to head out to Machu Picchu. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will be back!!
Wow!!!!
Nicol and Antonio are SUPER lovely, and so is their beautiful hotel. We absolutely loved visiting, and thanks to this we found Ollantaytambo was our favourite place in Peru. We felt so comfortable all the time, and they were very helpful and warm, telling us about the culture and history as well as offering diverse services for transport, breakfast, dinner, beautiful views from the top of their house, and it was just fantastic. This is the best place ever! Highly recommend !
The views, star gazing, amazing food and excellent staff. A five-star experience, right from the pickup at the cusco airport to dropping us back to Ollantaytambo station.
I was a bit worried about not knowing spanish, but Virginia speaks English, French and Spanish very fluently and was a perfect host, sharing details of the place and Sacred Valley.
Virgina and Juan were very nice and took us to show Llamas they had in the property, my four year old was very happy to pet them.
The stay at la Chola was fantastic! We enjoyed everything about it. The location was great, in between the mountains of Sacred Valley a bike ride from the beautiful Ollantaytambo. The room and the common areas were very clean and beautiful. The hotel was decorated with love, each detail was perfect. The owner was amazing, he did everything that we had the best time. He even made the best pizzas himself!!! Our stay was simply magical, thank you, we will come back!
The host was very really helpful and friendly, she organised our transfer from Cusco to Ollantaytambo which allowed us to fully explore the important sites in the Sacred Valley on the way which was spectacular which you wouldn't see if you took the train from Cusco. The view from the top terrace in the house is unbelievable, huge mountains with Mayan rock carvings are all around you, its one of the most spectacular views from a hotel I have ever seen.
Everything at Las Qolqas is great!
Its a secluded location at the very end of the sacred valley( Ollantaytambo) giving you the opportunity to be in nature at peace.
Great place to be on a solo journey or with the family,
the staff goes above and beyond to assist with any request you might have.
The spa is lovely
Food : Farm to table / organic produce
Beautiful gardens, great ambiance.
Sol Ollantay is in a great location, close to the Ollantaytambo archaeological site, train station and great places to eat around the square. Derek and Freddie were also very helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable and had a great view over the river. Breakfast was included, and there are some nice places to sit and relax inside the hotel. Thank you Derek and Freddie.
Good location, 5mins walk to ollantaytambo ruins entrance, 3mins walk to main square, 15min walk to train station. Stuffs are very friendly and helpful. breakfast is great! And the living area is beautiful, with fantastic mountain view and beautiful stars in evening . Hot water is okay even in late night. warm and comfortable bed. really good hotel.
Beautiful place with exceptional owner and staff. Very comfortable room with hot shower. Close to the main plaza and walking distance to the train station for Machu Picchu (which is open again now!) Walking distance to the Ollantaytambo ruins. Highly recommend this place. Nothing bad to say, I enjoyed my stay here, thank you!
Lovely quiet hotel on the edge of Ollantaytambo. Walking distance from the train station for Machu Picchu. Comfortable bed, decent shower, and a fantastic breakfast. Biker friendly! Incredibly generous host let me leave my motorcycle and bags at the hotel for two days while I visited Machu Picchu. Amazing.
Ollantaytambo is a very small town but very pretty. It’s an Inca’s town with real Inca’s buildings. Hotel is very close to ollantaytambo ruins and main plaza. It’s not close to the train station you can take a moto taxi that can pick you up from hotel to train station for only 5 soles 1.20 dollars.
Great hotel, very clean, spacious and modern rooms and all facilities. Fantastic patio & garden. Staff was excellent and provided full support to us. We actually stayed one night more than we originally planned. CEO Franz was very pleasant. Strongly recommend to anyone staying in Ollantaytambo.
Really central in ollantaytambo, close to the train station and the city center. The place is really beautiful and the breakfast was great.
The hostel staff was super friendly even letting us use the commodity after our check out.
We could let our bags when we went to Machu picchu.
Perfect location to explore Ollantaytambo on foot, but still quiet at night. The owners and staff were INCREDIBLY helpful and kind. The hotel is clean and super comfortable. Plus, the breakfast is THE BEST BREAKFAST we had in all of our 2 months travel through Peru.
Great place to stay near the train station. I left at 4.30am to get the first train to Machu Picchu and the staff were kind enough to give me a takeaway breakfast- that was a very nice touch. Rooms clean and very comfortable. I recommend this place!
Best hotel in Sacred Valley.
We enjoyed our stay here. Property is clean, quiet and with a good location.
They have hot water. It has very good ratio price/value.
And they have amazing breakfast with pancakes as well!
We stayed at the hotel next door as this was full despite us booking a room here. But the hotel was lovely and staff were very helpful organising us transfers to Cusco.
