Its largest square – Vrijthof – houses the twin churches of St Jan and St Servaas, a theatre and several pavement cafes. Various festivals and the Magic Maastricht Christmas markets are also held here. Well-preserved city walls surround the Old Town and run close to the Maas River where boat trips are available. The city is a gem.
The city is a gem. I am probably biased, as I was raised there, but I have not lived in Maastricht for more than 50 years and come back 2 to 3 times yearly. It is one of the most amazing small cities in Europe.

A beautiful, clean, safe-feeling city with a truly international feel. A huge range of shops, bars and restaurants. A river running through it. An extremely walkable and, unsurprisingly for the Netherlands, cycle-friendly city. We ventured through the city square area to a lower key area on the edge of the centre, that seemed to have fewer tourists and more students, and ate at a good Korean fusion restaurant. We enjoyed some Maastricht-made beer.

What a pretty city in the eastern region of The Netherlands!
What a pretty city in the eastern region of The Netherlands! My husband and I explored the city on foot for three days and discovered lovely shops, wonderful coffeeshops (check out Fixed Gear if you are a cyclist), and interesting restaurants. Every meal we had in the town was delicious, and the locals were unfailingly accommodating.

It has a very bright and cozy Christmas atmosphere.
It has a very bright and cozy Christmas atmosphere. Beautiful historical areas. There are many parks and green areas to walk through. A lot of hidden gems on the outskirts of the city - definitely worth hopping on the bus from one end to the other and discovering what lies outside of the city center. Must try the breakfast menu from Coffeelovers Plein 1992.
Hotel is ok but need an update on accommodation room and bathroom. It is clear with good comfortable bed. Approximately 30 minutes walk to center. We stayed last weekend off December for the New Year Eve. On arrival front desk staff gave us the tag to hang on the door for complementary drinks on New Year’s Eve but never delivered. We very much enjoyed the city and the atmosphere of the local restaurants and bars. Great shopping experience and cheerful people of Maastricht.
If you want a boutique experience, look no further. The hôtelier has finely crafted this hotel. Sit on the patio and listen to the quiet traces of university life. Feel free to enjoy the light play in the early evening and Dutch design elements. Talk to the hotel manager and he can answer questions, give advice, inform you of what you did not know…The town of Maastricht is a lost emerald in the crown of Europe.
Excellent location. Very comfortable and agreable hotel. Clean, cosy, quite and stylish hotel with unique decoration and nice fresh air zone. The hotel met most of my needs. Good service. Quick response. Friendly and helpful staff. All means of transport are around the hotel. Few minutes walk to downtown and centre of Maastricht.
really nice restaurant and staff, the rooms were clean and we had a small balcony. It's probably the hotel that is closest to the city centre, they will keep your luggage safe in a cupboard under the main stairway if you are too early or want to linger in the city after checkout.
The hotel is located in the perfect place: the city centre of Maastricht with the view on the river Maas and a famous bridge. 3 minor walking to the two main squares.
The room was minimalistic, quite tiny.

The perfect location in the heart of Maastricht city. Near the train station and also to the city centre with a lot of restaurants options around. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Beautiful, stylish hotel in the city center of Maastricht. The staff is very helpful and kind. The restaurant serves delicious dinners and a wide variety of products for breakfast.
