The hotel Makao offers a private beach in Palomino. The modern hotel has a terrace and views of the sea, and guests can enjoy a variety of drinks at the social areas or at the beach.

Great decor, sea view, and friendly staff. Away from the more lively end of the beach the Makao was perfect for us as we wanted to relax. Their beach beds are so comfy and luxurious and give a great view of the ocean. They will serve drinks and snacks to you here and even brought out complimentary fruit platters in the afternoon! The food was excellent - I had the garlic prawns twice because I loved them so much.

I was very lucky with my accommodation choice in Palomino - Casa Juana is a very quiet and welcoming place with wonderful staff and a great choice of activities. They arranged horse riding on the beach and a visit to an indigenous people village for me - both activities were wonderful. My room had a private terrace with a hammock. There are also hammocks in the common areas of the building. Wifi signal was strong and reliable - good for work calls. Hope to be back one day!

Offering a natural outdoor pool and a restaurant, La Jorará is located between Don Diego and Palomino. It is located in the middle of the jungle and right on the beach and river.

A charming hotel in a peaceful setting and beautifully kept grounds. The staff, particularly Jose, were friendly, helpful and polite. A delicious breakfast was served each morning with a smile plus free tea, coffee and filtered water was available all day long. The beds were comfortable and everywhere was very clean. The veranda was spacious with comfortable seating areas and hammocks. A little far from anywhere, but the local bus to Palomino (about 8km away) runs every 15 mins right past the hotel gate and the gatekeeper will flag it down for you.

If you’re someone like me who prefers to be surrender by nature and calmess instead of bars and a busy road then this place is perfect. Short walk from the beach and main road. It can be dark at night to walk around, however I never felt unsafe after dark on the roads. It has an Asian vibe to it and gorgeous landscaping. The rooms are extremely spacious and gorgeous. The staff is incredible and super sweet. There is also someone at reception 24/7 so there is that sense of security. The property is well taken care of. I stayed for 6 nights and didn’t want to leave. Thank you. 🥰

We liked everything, the place is very nice and quiet, the room is elegant, very spacious and clean. The breakfast was very rich every day, fruits from the region and a very good cappuccino that is included in the breakfast. very good wifi and excellent location, I will return since it is also rented for months. The owner is very friendly and helpful.

Everything was wonderful! The place is absolutely beautiful, peaceful and quite.. perfect to relax and recharge your energies on a beautiful and basically private beach! Still you have good transportation if you wish to go to Palomino (5m) and have a bit more of movement and party. The room was perfectly clean and comfortable (I loved the open air WC) right in front of the beach. Food was delicious and all staff super friendly and paying attention to any needs. It was my favourite place in Colombia and I will definitely come back!! Thank you Casalina for the good energies 🍀

    Palomino has become a place where foreigners go to have fun with drugs, alcohol and sex. The hotels are owned by foreigners who do not know the balance and good treatment with nature, I think it is a disturbing tourism for the communities and nature... Lots of noise in the surroundings

    Palomino has a reputation for a relaxed place and lifestyle.

    Palomino has a reputation for a relaxed place and lifestyle. This is not entirely true as most of the beachfront is built up with fenced off resorts. The quality of the food and cocktails is generally low to average at best. There are nice people, too, of course, but there is very few backpacking/hippie style going on.

    This is a great town for beach vibes , good local...

    This is a great town for beach vibes , good local restaurants and a bit of night life. There are lots of travelers but it isn't too touristy. Still an easy-going beach town. Go now before more tourists find it! A float down the (shallow) river makes for a fun day and leave some time for some cervezas on the public beach at the end. If you take a motorbike to the trailhead, be prepared to hang on tight and ask for a helmet - health and safety doesn't seem to be a thing here! Buses are easy to catch on the main road and tuk-tuks/motorbikes can be hired for getting around town, although nothing is too far to walk. Looking forward to a return to Palomino!

    Lovely beach, great for a walk and surfing during our visit in January. Not sure about other times of the year. Plenty of beach front properties offering food and drinks. The town streets are not tarmac, some muddy patches during our stay, no pavement beyond the first block, if you don't use a tuk tuk or motorbike on arrival to your hostel, you are carrying your bag, no wheelie suitcases!! No parking either, if you are driving, check where you can park. Probably a torch in some areas after dark, definitely along areas of the beach, would help and although we stayed away from main town would imagine it gets very lively after dark! Sorry, but personally, there are too many dogs begging for food, most didn't look starving, think the restaurants may feed them, but I don't like dogs begging at the table. Seems throught South America, its a problem, but really noticed it here, especially with a dog rescue nearby.

    This place is amazing! I ended up staying nearly a week because i loved it so much. The place looks a bit like a resort, but i paid less for my own room than what others paid for a dormbed in Palomino. Such good value for money! The place is outside the hustle and bustle of Palomino and therefore it's quiet and relaxed. Supergood place to chill and unwind. Near to D1 supermarket and local restaurants. I felt safe walking back alone from the beach at night. The owner and his mum are superfriendly and helpful.

    This a great place to stay in Palomino. We booked - and we recomand it - a room "with big double bad and view to the garden" and we were practically had an entire garden with swimming pool and a reading / working space and only for ourselves. We spent 14 days here and we enjoyed every moment. Zoraida and her personnel were amazing. I thank Zoraida and to both Gabi and Juana for their warm energy! Only 6 mins walking to the beach and 6 mins walking to the main road, a wonderful place with wonderful people!

    The property is very nice, natural and clean. It is situated just off the Main Street in Palomino in a quiet side street. It is easy to get there. Since the sea in Palomino is pretty rough and bathing there is rather uncomfortable it is perfect that the hostel has it’s own pool. Thus, you may simply spend the day at the hotel pool instead of hanging out at the beach (which has sadly been eaten by the sea to a significant degree in the past three years)

For breakfast you get to choose between eggs, pancakes or a vegan option, all accompanied by fruit (I loved the Pancakes). we stayed for one week and loved it. great place to relax and unwind. we stayed at different places in Palomino and this was our favourite.

    We really enjoyed our short stay at Casa Colibri and would highly recommend it. Hotel is well location, 15min easy walk from the beach and away from loud music. Our room was basic but it had everything we needed, it was clean and well organised. Staff at the hotel was very welcoming and helpful, they stored out bags and provided us with all the information needed. Breakfast was delicious.

    IThe hotel is fantastic, the owner Herman went above and beyond to help us out and insure we had a fantastic time. He speaks perfect English and is just such a nice guy. The pool is refreshing and the coffee and breakfast were delightful as well. I am on my way to Palomino again as I write this and hoping to stay there again. Highly recommend

    We took the big double room at 55 000 per night, it was really spacious and confortable with a lot of light ! The location is great, 7 min walk from the beach and close from all the shops and restaurants! The kitchen is small but really enough if you need to cook!     The pools were great and welcome with the hot weather in Palomino. It is also a great area to socialize and have a drink. Proximity to the beach was also convenient.
