El Hotel Colonial Villavieja, situado en Villavieja, a 34 km de Neiva, ofrece habitaciones con aire acondicionado y WiFi gratuita en todas sus instalaciones. El estacionamiento privado es gratuito. This hotel has rooms all around a central court yard. The restaurant is in the court yard and there are beautiful plants which attract birds and give an overall look of freshness. The restaurant has powerful fans which help with the heat. Our room had an aircon, which is rare for Villavieja and Tatacoa. The beds were comfortable and although there is only cold water, it was no problem because of the heat in this area. The breakfast consisted of fruit juice, toast and eggs made to order, and coffee. It was nice and more than enough. We had lunch once and dinner twice at the hotel's restaurant and the food was delicious. We also had very good cocktails. The restaurant is open all day till 10 pm. They also have an ice cream fridge where you can buy different delicious ice creams any time of day. The staff were very friendly and helpful and some of them do speak English. We asked them to arrange our transport from Neiva airport to the hotel and to arrange a tuk tuk and guide to take us to the Grey dessert and Red dessert the day after our arrival (our only full day in Villavieja). Yeison Medina waited for us at the airport when we arrived late on a Sunday night and transported us to the hotel. He also happened to be our guide for the dessert trips. He is a professional guide at the observatory as well and he was very knowledgeable about the geology, the history and the fauna and flora of the dessert. He spoke English well enough, he was very funny and full of jokes and we had a wonderful day with him. He was also a magician with a cell phone and took very creative photos of us in the dessert. We will remember him every time we look at our holiday photos. Hotel Villavieja is definitely the obvious choice if you plan to visit the Tatacoa dessert. Don't bother to find a tuk tuk on the square or anywhere else for dessert tours, just ask the hotel to arrange it for you and hope that Yeison Medina is your guide.

El Hotel Kasama se encuentra en San Agustín y ofrece bar, salón compartido, jardín y wifi gratis. Hay recepción 24 horas, room service y servicio de organización de excursiones. Lo primero el trato del personal. Son muy agradables y atentos. Dispuestos a resolver dudas en todo momento. La ubicación es impresionante. Vistas como si estuvieses en un mirador. Impresionante levantarte por la mañana y ver las montañas y el paisaje desde la cama. Por cierto LA CAMA MUY COMODA. El matrimonio encargado del hotel son muy amables y en nuestro caso nos recomendaron una ruta segura y muy bonita donde vimos miradores hicimos rafting en el río magdalena fuimos a caballo. En fin ubicación y hotel totalmente recomendable. Estuvimos muy bien como en nuestra casa.

The area felt safe and the rooftop terrace was decorated really nicely. Very close to the airport in a residential area. We stayed there after a few days in the desert and definitely recommend it.

El Hotel La Casa de Francois se encuentra en San Agustín y ofrece WiFi gratuita. También alberga un bar. Todas las habitaciones disponen de baño privado con bañera o ducha. Es un lugar muy lindo, con un jardín excepcional, con una gran vista sobre San Agustín. Las cabañas son muy cómodas, con un diseño original, muy limpias y acogedoras, construidas con materiales amigables con el ambiente. El personal es muy amable, siempre dispuesto a ayudar y François fue adorable con nosotros, se nota que disfruta compartir con las personas que deciden quedarse en su hotel. El restaurante ofrece alimentos de calidad, frescos, a precios razonables; varios de los productos como las pastas, el pan y la granola, son preparados ahí mismo. Está ha sido mi segunda estadía en La Casa de François y volvería sin dudarlo. De lejos, uno de los mejores lugares para quedarse en San Agustín :)

The dining room is very elegant and comfortable, with an open fire. Staff excellent. The whole complex was so beautiful and to the high standard. Our host engages with everybody.
