Set in a historical building, a 4-minute walk from Huayan Temple East Plaza, Pipa Hotel offers accommodation in Datong City. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. Premier location in the centre of the old town. The room is very clean and comfortable, the breakfast was simple but had all you need. The staff are very helpful and friendly.

Friendly and polite staff, very welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable. The restaurant served delicious dishes at affordable prices. It is the perfect place to relax for the weekend. The Guandi Family Temple is only a 10min walk from the property, very easy to reach and totally worth the visit. As for other tourism attractions although a bit far, the hotel can recommend drivers and the prices are acceptable.

Boasting well preserved architectural structure and attention-to-detail service, Jing's Residence is a hidden gem in the ancient walled town of Pingyao, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The staffs were absolutely amazing. One of the best services I have seen so far. The hotel offers free minibar for guests and breakfast is on ala carte basis and food quality is top notch. The hotel is located in ancient Pingyao city (no car zone). Taxi would have to drop guests off at main road which is few minutes walk to the hotel. I would recommend guests to take up pick up and drop off services offered by the hotel as all streets in Pingyao looks the same (like maze) and it's relatively easy to get lost while trying to find the hotel on your own.

Housed in a traditional courtyard property with a 300-year history, Pingyao Yide offers Chinese-style rooms with hand-made fine wood fittings and artwork. Yide Hotel was incredibly beautiful and serene! The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. I emailed across my arrival train and they arranged (for a very small sum!) for me to be picked up- the same on the way back to Pingyaogucheng, which was immensely helpful. On the day I arrived I happened to get an upgrade on my room- can't be guaranteed, but was great. The breakfast was delicious- I had a lovely tea, scrambled eggs and toast. There were many more options and it was unlimited in how much you had! They gave me a useful map and talked me through the top sites to see. Overall a brilliant stay.

Large, spacious rooms with warm showers. Internet was fast, breakfast was not bad, and is just 50m from Taiyuan South train station.

Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, Water Hotel, Pingyao offers accommodation in Pingyao, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This hotel is inside the ancient city, it is convenient to explore the city. Fast check in and out Pleasant staff Hotel is not crowded. I only saw one guest throughout my one day stay The next day, I got up early and I was able to walk the entire city (no crowds) I felt very safe The hotel does not have a restaurant, however one is not needed; there are numerous restaurants in the city. I ordered from Meituan. Breakfast the next day was simple but more than enough for me: toast, jelly, fried egg and bacon. There are also numerous options for breakfast in the city. I enjoyed my stay very much, will definitely stay again. Tours that you can take: Wang’s Courtyard is 30 minutes by car and Zhangby’s Fortress is about 30 minutes from Wang’s Courtyard. Traveling tips: To get to Pingyao by train: Beijing to Pingyao: only a few times per day (This is the best option if you are coming from Beijing) Otherwise: Beijing to Pingyao or Shanghai to Pingyao Air China Taiyuan to Pingyao: Rake the fast train that is ~ 30-40 minutes. Business class is 56 rmb Coming back to Beijing (If you miss direct train to Beijing) -Pingyao rail station to Taiyuan South. ( Do not get off on Taiyuan station, you must to go Taiyuan South) I got off the wrong station and had to take a taxi to Taiyuan South which is about 15 minutes with light traffic Taiyuan South to Beijing: 3 hours by fast train.
