I really liked the town.
I really liked the town. It's cozy, with old buildings and without skyscrapers. Beautiful hiking options. Nice museum. Many coffee places and dinning options. I went Sunday to Thursday in mid December, but it seems like "season" doesn't start in Lake Placid until Christmas day. A lot of attractions and restaurants are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday and it was raining the only day the speed skating oval was open for me, so I had bad luck and would plan better next time. I didn't get to do bobsled experience and other things from the legacy site and was even turned away from the Gondola at whiteface as a sight seer. One of the best small vacation towns in the northeast. Plenty of food options in a full price range. some intimate bars and restaurants as well as a bunch of places with crowds and music. Plenty of stuff for kids of all ages. safe and walkable

Lake Placid is an absolutely beautiful little town.
Lake Placid is an absolutely beautiful little town. Everything is within walking distance and there is so much to see and do. It’s pricey but there are so many beautiful little shops and places to eat. Walk the lake or climb a mountain, you’ll keep busy for days.AAnonymous - 10Scored 10

The hotel was great, very clean, beds comfy, great breakfasts! Staff was friendly and personable. Nice keurig coffee machine in room, so you can bring your own k cups if you want. They only have Green Mountain brand. They also have decaf. Location was the best! Not very far from anything! Loved the top of Whiteface Mountain, can access by elevator or hiking. Was a continuous fragrance of pine, reminded me of Christmas. While at the ski jumps we had a chance to see some of the 6-14 year olds practice. That was great! We had a very good meal at Black Bear Restaurant! Getting around town is very easy. All in all a great place to stay for a few days.MICHAELUnited States - 10Scored 10

we participated in the Olympic venues passport choice and had a wonderful time exploring and partaking at each venue. the food at every restaurant was great, we liked the creperie and black bear restaurants. driving around was easy. We did mini golf, the visitors cruise on lake placid, had a manicure, made a bead bracelet, and browsed the shops. We also went to High falls gorge. the scenery in the area cannot be beat, the trees, mountains, and lakes are awe inspiring. i think that was my favorite part.Newhart

Jason and Aiden were both exceptional waiters in the Great Room and were attentive without being overbearing. The lady at check-out was really friendly and nothing seemed like too much bother. The food was perfect. The pancakes at breakfast were the best I've tasted and very fluffy and light. Not a single thing to complain about and I'd happily visit again.

It appears that they have a make your own pancakes set up but it wasn't in operation when I was there, probably because there were only a handful of guests on an off night near the end of the winter season. Room was surprisingly large. The whole hotel was very clean and well maintained. Location is excellent too. The Lake Placid Brewing Co. brewpub is next door and Main Street is a short walk away. Staff were very friendly.
