Tromso was okay, only small, not a lot to do, plenty souvenir shops, was nice for 3 nights but wouldn't go for any longer. We went on a boat on the fjords which was 4 hours, would have been better if had only been 2 hours, it was just mountains and water we found it to be boring, and it wasn't cheap, would we recommend, No.

Tromsø is breathtaking and definitely worth visiting, regardless of if you're chasing the polar lights, or just want to explore the city and the area during the day. The city is in close touch with nature and offers variety of different activities. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is going there during the Easter holidays (as I did), since a lot of stores, museums, restaurants, etc. tend to be closed.

Tromso is nice town with plenty of places to eat and drink.

Tromso is nice town with plenty of places to eat and drink. The restaurants offer a mixture of cuisine including local delicacies. There are a reasonable amount of shops offering local goods. It is an easy walk across the bridge to visit the Cable Car, definitely worth a visit to enjoy spectacular views. We arranged for a Northern Lights Tour which was fantastic. A comfortable, luxury coach drove us an hour outside of Tromso to an area with no light pollution, we had perfect weather so did not have to move on as the Northern Lights offered us the most wonderful light show for a four hour period. We were supplied with Hot Chocolate & cookies which kept us warm. The driver would have driven to another location if the weather had not been clear but on this occasion it was not necessary.

    Tromsø is an amazing city.

Tromsø is an amazing city. It’s not as small as one may think.. has the right amount of grocery stores, cafés, bars etc. Quite a good nightlife, lots of young students/ tourists around so you’re never alone during solo travel! Tourism and guided activities are exceptional, they provide all the equipment, meals (in some cases) and transportation. Overall you will never be bored in Tromsø, I reccomend everyone to visit even if you’re not a sporty person there’s an activity for every fitness level.

I had a day there at the start and end of my holiday. Packed in quite a bit of sightseeing. The Troll Museum is a must visit! Delicious king crab platter at Dragoy. Saw the Northern Lights from the top of the cable car.

Tromso is in the middle of aurora ring.

Tromso is in the middle of aurora ring. We are here just for northern light. During our visit in March, all road is damped and muddy, not easy to get around. Find a place to stay in warm weather for watching aurora. Getting to mountain by cable car is my favorite activity to see Tromso at night with aurora.

Villa Havblikk is such a lovely little hotel, it is perfectly located across from the main town so you have great views across the river of the city and also the mountains - and of course it is quiet. And only a few minutes walk from the gondola we used to get up the mountain and were fortunate to see the northern lights there! And it's only 20 mins or so walk over the bridge into town

Above a bakery - ideal for breakfast; early morning prep and ovens very quiet. Nice views of the harbour and redeveloped slipway from our room. Not too close or too far away from the centre or supermarket. Very close to great public transport - bus #42 from airport stops 1 min walk from property - use tromso bus app. For Norway it was great value in September 2022

Hotel was in a great location to restaurants, shops, bars and pickup for excursions. The view from the breakfast room was incredible. Though most of the reviews praised the breakfast for being the best in Norway, it had a wide variety of options available, but not all were great. Coffee was great. Reception staff were friendly and accommodating.

The house was very clean, warm and cosy, the host and her family were very welcoming, they gave us a lot of good advices to visit the place at best. The kitchen was totally available for us. Since the house is a bit out of the city centre, it's a perfect place if you want to see the northern lights, but you need to rent a car to reach it.

That we got our money back for the northern lights chasing tour when it got canceled because there was no chance to see it. It was 100% cloudy everywhere. And we asked for a double bed for the second part of our stay (we went to an other hotel in between) but they arranged a double bed immediatly for us.
