Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai New World, hotel in Shanghai

Directly facing the People's Square, the Shanghai Art Museum, Shanghai Grand Theatre and East Nanjing Road shopping area, luxury awaits at Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai New World.

The room was very comfortable, big and lush, with plenty of room for 2 people. Beds were very comfortable, and so were the side arm chairs. Staff were generally friendly and many could speak English, which was helpful. Near lots of shopping and food options along Nanjingdonglu. Even directly connected to an adjacent mall.

Campanile Shanghai Railway Station and People's Square, hotel in Shanghai

Renovated in June 2017, Campanile Shanghai Natural History Museum Hotel is located in Jing’an District of Shanghai, featuring the view of Suzhou River.

The room we booked was very spacious for two, plenty of room to open two big luggages and floor space to spare. Beds were comfortable and toilet was okay. Toiletries provided were good. Breakfast was also a wonderful surprise; decent food and varied choice every day. Staff were very friendly even if they mostly only spoke Mandarin, understandably.

FAQs about hotels in Shanghai

A Beacon of Modern China

A beacon of 21st-century China, Shanghai is modernising at an electrifying rate. Nowhere is this more evident than the skyscraper-punctuated Pudong commercial district. The most distinct - the Oriental Pearl Tower - has a ball at the top and bottom and offers fabulous city views. A number of towers also twist as they go up – a feat of contemporary engineering.

This side of the city also houses Shanghai Pudong International Airport, while Shanghai Hongqiao Airport is over the Huangpu River in the Puxi district. An area of older and less dominating buildings, Puxi features the elegant Bund area whose varied architecture includes a surprising array of Art Deco.

With a choice of shopping centres and small shops beneath brightly lit neon signs just like Chinatowns across the world, Shanghai shopping is fantastic.

Other must-see Shanghai attractions include the wonderful Shanghai Museum and the Jade Buddha Temple. For a break from the hustle and bustle head to the Yuyuan Gardens, the beach or peaceful Zhujiajiao Water Town in the west.

Whether you choose one of the Shanghai hotels, apartments or hostels, take time to go to a tea house, a Chinese institution. Also worth sampling are Shanghai hairy crab, steamed dumplings and the freshwater fish so popular with locals.

Exciting, vibrant, safe, advance and modern city - the roads and streets are clean. Public transportation is efficient and fast. Food is good, many eating places. A little downside though, allow me to be candid, to some small extend, economic success of this place may have overrun the personal etiquette of the public members at large, especially the older generation (by observation) - the way they drive, smoke, jumping queue, and spitting in public. Notwithstanding, the people are generally not unfriendly and will be helpful when asked.

Perfect introduction to first time traveller to China.

Perfect introduction to first time traveller to China. Transport into Shanghai from Airport Catch Maglev fast train and/or Metro from the airport. Signage clear and buying a ticket very easy with Alipay which you can preload before arrival in China (in NZ anyway). Always a person to help near where tickets are bought. BUT beware Maglev around 9:30 and metro 11pm, then only bus or taxi and bus difficult to workout without language. Stay near the Bund - perfect spot for people watching on the weekend. Walking around Shanghai safe and fascinating, metro very easy to navigate and although language a challenge everyone very helpful and good humoured. Nanjing Road amazing, especially at night, even for someone who doesn't like shopping! Plenty of places to eat and all prices but found street food by far the best. Thought it might be touristy (and it was) but Zhujiajiao water town worth the trip. Easy to get to by train for an afternoon. You can find a quiet spot to sit and sip tea on a balcony over the river.

It is a unique city, and Bund area is excellent. Unusual buildings to visit and see. I felt very safe there. If you want clothes made go to the South Bund Fabric Market, 3991 Lujiabang Road, 1F 198#....try mobile number 13917936395 ......she was terrific and made and delivered my clothes on time. Well made and a wide range of fabrics. The fabric market is a large place with heaps of fabrics and clothes can be made in a day or two. Lots of tailors on hand to check out. Bargain hard.

My stay at Tiancheng hotel was superb. The staff at the hotel are very accommodating to guest requests and try their best to get you in the room before check in time. I was able to check in at noon which allowed me to spend the whole day exploring. The manager at the hotel is one of the kindest and most hospitable I’ve met, greeting me and my family at the reception and making sure our stay was enjoyable. Highly recommend if you’re looking for comfort and convenient location.

Relatively close to the airport. Free transfer to the airport from the hotel, even in the early morning. They prepare a small breakfast to go (milk, boiled egg, some bakery), that was really nice. Staff super friendly, quite room, large and comfy bed. Good choice for a short stop over in Shanghai. Small shop at the hotel, possible to buy some basic stuff, drinks, cup noodles, shampoos etc. But otherwise there's nothing around the hotel, no shops, not cafes.

The location is unbeatable, five minutes to metro stop (Yuyuan) and ten minutes to Yuyuan/Yu gardens. Most of Shanghai's top spots are easily reached from the hotel, either by metro, or a somewhat longer walk. Staff is helpful, their level of English is great, and the restaurant (where breakfast is also served) is a great way to relax after a full day out. All in all, we were very happy to stay here and will be back if we'll come to Shanghai again.

I’ve stayed at 12 Hengshan a few times before it was under the IHG umbrella - it is still the best hotel in Shanghai. The location is great (if you want an authentic Shanghai experience) and the rooms are large and comfortable. I arrived at 10am and they let me check in then! Wow this has never happened before - it saved me from having to kill time before check in of 2pm! Also the reception girls were very helpful with my internet issues!

In terms of location this is as good as it gets in Shanghai. Metro access under 2 minute walk. Direct access to Nanjing road, short distance to people square and tons of places. The rooms are comfortable although not very big. The breakfast is the best I have had in China and is well worth that of a high-end 5 star hotel. Bath and shower have strong water pressure and instant hot water.

Location. The Bund is located at a short walk from hotel. Good restaurants offer around. It's very easy to get from Pudong Airport to the hotel by subway, simply take line 2 and get off at East Nijing Road Station (exit 6). We took the subway which is very cheap (7 Yuan per trip) carrying big bags and had no problem at all.
