We loved our stay at this hotel. Declan and Paul and all of the team were warm and welcoming. The room was great (we stayed in Twyfeling C) - the bed was huge and comfy, it had a free-standing bath, a great shower, and a free minibvar that was refilled every morning.
The breakfast was delicious and hearty. We loved the detail that they go to here. They even have local mobile phones that you can use, and provided really helpful advice on restaurants and wineries.
This place is highly recommended, we will be going back, and this truly is a "home from home".

The village was easy to navigate by foot. Great restaurants were close to the hotel. There were lovely shops a-plenty. The security has increased a lot since our last visit as had general cleanliness. Service everywhere was exemplary.

The main purpose of going to Franschhoek is to eat in some of the fabulous restaurants. Apart from that there is not a lot else to do and it can be very hot making it uncomfortable just to walk around the village. If self catering there are very good grocery stores including Woolworths Food and a relatively new and modern Checkers. There is also a large Pick n Pay but it is a much lower standard than the other two which are more up market.

We love Franschhoek and could easily have stayed longer.
We love Franschhoek and could easily have stayed longer. We love wandering along Huguenot Street with its many shops and small restaurants and the market on Saturdays and Sundays. We visited Haute Cabriere, Mont Rochelle and Mullineux & Leeu. We enjoyed an excellent lunch in all and had the best wine tasting in Mullineux & Leeu. On the way out we had “high tea” (at 10.30 am) in Orangerie at Le Lude which was quite amazing

Loved Franschhoek but 2 or 3 nights here would probably be enough as town is lovely but small. A great base for doing the winre tram and visiting the various wineries but many can also be reached just as easiliy from Stellenbosch which seemed a little livelier and more going on. Liked the market with drinks and music.
Drivers take note the pass into Franschhoek (the R45 from the R43 or R321) is closed 0900-1700 weekdays until the end of Feb 2024!

Franschoek is a gem!
Franschoek is a gem! Fabulous places to stay, a most beautiful Main Street with so much character, beautiful shops and restaurants, and the Wine Tram. This runs like clockwork and is a perfect way to visit several wine estates without needing to use your car. The estates are fabulous and you stop as long as you like, hopping on the next tram when you are ready!

The wineries around Franschhoek were lovely.
The wineries around Franschhoek were lovely. Would also recommend a visit to the Pigcasso winery - I know this seems weird for those there for the wine and food but for some reason the place is very nice and chill. If you are in town on Sunday, the markets were great and you could get coffee and listen to music.
I would suggest hiring a car particularly if your hotel is not in the main street. But there is a tram which takes you to the different vineyards and seemed very regular.
As to vineyards, we had a lovely breakfast at Boschedal winery.
An absolutely idyllic boutique hotel located very close to the franschhoek wine tram and franschhoek town. The staff are incredibly welcoming and accommodating. They go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. The rooms are decorated with beautiful touches that really make this accommodation stand out as 10/10. The garden and pool area are immaculately manicured and filled with beautiful flowers. We would definitely recommend this as an outstanding place to stay whilst visiting franschhoek. Thank you Maison Cabriere!
- Roel, Lucienne and their staff - very friendly, helpful and welcoming
- Delicious breakfast, variety on offer and special that is cooked by Lucienne herself and can be enjoyed on a beautiful patio
- Amazing Mountain View from the bedroom balcony!
Peaceful and well-maintained property with a great pool and sun chairs
- Comfortable, spacious room/bathroom with all amenities
- Central location to the Main Street in Franschhoek and the wine farms
- We loved our stay and hope to return! Definitely will recommend to others
We only stayed at the Ashbourne Guest House in Franschhoek for one night on our garden route trip to avoid drinking and driving after the wine tasting since I’m walking distance to the main station of the wine tram. But we definitely could’ve stayed longer! The hotel ground has such a nice atmosphere, the rooms are spotless and comfortable and the pool clean & warm. Also had a very good, personalised breakfast before we left. We’ll come back some time!
Good location close to Franschhoek centre but know it's located next to a school so expect young childrens noise on weekdays early morning . The host is very friendly and gives her informative insights. Room is spacious and very comfy. Bed was excellent. No breakfast was provided but you are walking distance from many great coffeeshops and restaurants. The house has no electric backup so expect load shedding .
Unbelievable value for money. This place is immaculate, safe, and the women who run it are full of smiles and life. We felt welcome from the moment we stepped in and even though we only spent a night, I would spend many more nights here if staying in the Franschhoek area. Lots of nice little touches like some chocolates and sparkling wine because it was my birthday. Very well designed rooms.
We had wonderful three nights in this very lovely, small boutique hotel. A great experience with a very warm welcome, great service, very good breakfast and a great room with absolute privacy. Perfectly located close to the center of Franschhoek, everything is within walking distance. Thanks to the whole team. We will be very happy to come back!
Stunning boutique hotel with very comfortable communal area with an honesty bar that was FOC. Breakfast was high quality although did notice a lot of waste from the fruit / bread / meat trays that are given to every table.
Location is perfect for Franshoek and staff very welcoming and knowledgeable of the local and surrounding area
Wonderful little cottage on a working fruit farm. Peace and quiet with exceptional view on the mountains. Fully equipped for a self catering holiday. Centrally situated to explore all of Franschhoek, Paarl and Stellenbosch. Thank you Jonathan for your hospitality and friendly conversations. Unit was serviced daily during weekdays.
The perfect gateway to explore the beautiful surroundings of Franschhoek. The hotel has everything I hoped for: history, beautiful gardens, nice pool, personality, tranquility and very spacious rooms. Above all, the owner was very helpful en friendly and breakfast was fantastic!
This hotel has a great location. We could walk to all the restaurants and we could get a Tuk Tuk very close to the hotel. Breakfast was also great and staff very friendly. Rooms are really nice and modern with a nice fireplace and nice minibar and coffee station.
Stunning boutique hotel with only 4 rooms, amazing staff, charming, very tasteful interior, big pool with lounge furniture, great breakfast, a quiet oasis just 2 minutes from the center of Franschhoek. Everything was fantastic, we will for sure visit again!
A true boutique hotel experience.
beautiful location and building, well appointed high quality rooms, very kind and thoughtful staff.
super breakfast and swimming pool and thoughtful touches throughout the day like afternoon cake and gin o’clock.
The hotel is very close to the centre of Franschhoek and therefore within easy walking distance of the restaurants and shops. We found the hosts and staff to be most helpful which made our short stay very relaxing and enjoyable.
We enjoyed our stay! Apartment with everything you need, clean, comfortable, large living room and kitchen, nice little patio in the back. Perfect location in Franschhoek. Contact was very nice and helpful.
