We stayed one night at Il Piccolo before our flight home. The accommodation was really close to the airport and Costantino helped me organise a shuttle to the airport. The place was lovely and clean and the communication was very good. Breakfast was supplied and it was amazing. The location close to the airport was good for us and the time that we had available. The port was a short walk away and had good restaurants and a nice vibe. The breakfast was OK, simple and adequate for us. It would have been improved if we had access to more than just a kettle and coffee machine as we got a takeaway pizza and had no plates. We often choose to stay in Fiumicino as a staging area either upon arrival or departure from Roma (FCO airport). It has a sort of edgy border town vibe to it that makes it feel more authentic. It has a nice promenade along the mouth of the river with many cafes, bars, & restaurants; you can fall into a bad tourist place or find a nice authentic trattoria, and also some very posh establishments; most featuring local fish. It is close to the airport so it's convenient and the prices for a room are lower than going into Rome proper.RobertoUnited States of America
