Operated by the local Nakhi people and enjoying a history of 15 years, Mama Naxi Guesthouse is a family-style hostel offering cosy accommodation in Lijiang. Free WiFi is accessible in all areas. We liked everything in here. The owner lady welcomed us at the train station and she didn't charge us for the ride. At the guest house, which is something like less than a 10 minute walk to the old city, she also invited us for a cup of tea. She speaks good English and is very helpful with anything you need. She also makes yummy breakfasts that we didn't find elsewhere in China!!! The furniture at the reception is a bit oldie in our opinion but it simply reflects the Chinese style so don't get discouraged by that. It was all great for us. Making the traditional modern, the luxurious InterContinental Lijiang Ancient Town Resort presents beautiful Nakhi courtyard architecture, surrounded by lush greenery. Location was perfect for visiting the ancient town. Breakfast was good. The layout of the hotel was interesting and liked that there were several entrances into the old town. Staff were attentive especially Kokole (? spelling) who cleaned the three rooms we occupied. On the last night, she even left the door to the safe opened as a reminder that I had items in the safe. Very thoughtful. The hotel compound was beautiful and well maintained. Shame there were no balconies to sit and view the gardens from the upstairs rooms.

Featuring classic wood furnishings and a courtyard with greenery, Lijiang Old Town Meiliju View Inn is located peacefully in Lijiang Ancient Town. Free WiFi is accessible in all areas. We highly recommended this homestay to everyone who is coming to Lijiang for the first time. This was actually the highlight of our trip. When we got to the place it was already close to midnight, we were tired but the host greeted us so warmly with hot tea and traditional rose cakes (that she continued to offer us the next days). They helped us with booking cars to travel between Lijiang and other tourist destinations. The homestay itself is situated in a perfect location, accessible to all parts of Lijiang Old Town by foot. It is also very cozy and warm, clean rooms and towels. Thank you for the wonderful experience!
