The property smelled really bad, with a moldy odor everywhere. During the night, we had a visit from a rat in our kitchen, which came through a hole in the air conditioner. I reported it to the reception, but they did nothing. My money was totally wasted, and no refund was offered or made.
Illalangi Boutique Cottage offers a three bedroom self-contained accommodation in an original Blue Mountains cottage.

House is beautifully decorated though my teenagers were a bit scared to see the paintings on the walls. The kitchen is nice with basic amenities like cooking oil, salt and pepper, spices provided. Good electric grill available for use, though it can be better with some clean up. Nice yard with fireplace, but need to buy wood and starters to DIY. Property provided initial starter set but can’t do much in setting up a fire. We were so cold when entering the property late at night. Good that the property left the lights on, would be better if they had also turned on the heating. The floor was super cold, thankfully we brought slippers.
Boasting free WiFi, Kubba Roonga Guesthouse is a 4.5 star heritage guesthouse set amongst beautiful English-style gardens.

Perfect! Perfect! Perfect!
Our stay at Kubba Roonga in Blackheath, NSW, was simply outstanding. Chris and his partner excel at preserving the beauty of this heritage home. Their hospitality surpassed all expectations, and Chris's knowledge of the Blue Mountains area is unmatched. The Victorian-era charm of the house is impeccably maintained. While some reviews mention the rules set by Chris and his partner, we found them reasonable and necessary given the property's vintage. It's important to remember that you're sharing a home, not just staying in a generic motel. My partner and I felt entirely comfortable throughout our stay and will definitely return for a longer weekend getaway. Five stars hardly do justice to our exceptional experience.

The continental breakfast provided was a stand-out. Sue was an exemplary host providing all we needed for our stay.

There are some very lovely antique shops that you could spend hours at looking at everything and very nice and classy boutique nick nack, clothes and shoe shops in Blackheath. The cafes have yummy food. It's ok to visit for a day and then visit other parts of the Blue Mtns like Leura and Katoomba on other days. Blackheath is a good place to stay when visiting the private open gardens in Mt Wilson like Nooroo Gardens and the majestic Breenhold Gardens 30 minutes drive away in Spring and Autumn.

Blackheath was the perfect location as a base for exploring...
Blackheath was the perfect location as a base for exploring the Blue Mountains. From our accommodation, it was a very easy drive to surrounding lookouts such as Anvil Rock, Wind-eroded Rock and Hargraves Lookout, as well as a comfortable drive into the Megalong Valley to visit the Dryridge Winery. Katoomba is also within easy reach for day tripping and to explore and visit Echo Point, the Three Sisters and Skyworld.
As a small and quaint village, Blackheath has all that you would expect for a tourism-focused location. The butcher, the baker, cafes and pub (complete with the best Guiness Pie enjoyed by the fireplace and accompanied by Saturday afternoon Jazz), were all a delight to explore and experience, especially whilst the town was shrouded in cloud and mist, rendering sightseeing improbable for the day. We were especially delighted to purchase an inexpensive (last pair discount!) pair of hiking boots, in the specialty shoe shop.
Would highly recommend planning a stay in Blackheath - our 4 nights/5 days was the perfect length of time to accommodate the slower pace of rainy, cloud-enveloped days, along with more adventure-filled days of hiking and exploring, once the sun came out!

It’s our fourth time here.
It’s our fourth time here.
We loved Blackheath - best walks - Grand Canyon and Govet’s Leap
We also love Katoomba - many walks and lookouts
And Wentworth Falls is just a short drive or train trip to the East
So much choice, so much beauty.
Walks galore - so awe inspiring.
Peace and relaxation - perfect 4 days/3nights
Easy access by train.
But PLEASE take water with you on your walks, preferably with an electrolyte supplement. Australia can get hot, there are no taps along the walks (it’s a national park) and the walks are fairly long (3-4hrs). We saw a few people looking lightheaded and weary from dehydration - fortunately we had spare water to share.

Lovely town with lots of local stores and breathtaking views. I would say even better than Katoomba. Friendly locals. Nice walking through the town, everyone had beautiful gardens, you could tell they really make an effort to make them stunning. I recommend sunrise at Govetts Leap Lookout, hiking in Katoomba either using Scenic world facilities for less mobile visitors or challenge yourself for a long hike around a valley. We finished our afternoon/evening at Japanese Bath House (30 min away) which was great recovery after hiking. Next day morning we visited Botanical garden which was again so beautiful with no entrance fee.

Coming back to life.
Coming back to life. A few empty shops but still a fair bit to see. Coffee places are good.Close to other centre town.areas. I have planned a second trip back in the next month or so.
The Gold club was handy for very nice bistro food. Need a car to get around. Given I was here on a Friday and Saturday it wasn't too busy.

It's less trendy than other lower mountain destinations - less like Sydney - a greater variety of restaurants & coffee shops & book shop & antique centre
Lots of easy street walks and for the fitter many bush walks
More laid back and a quieter community
Great property and wonderful hosts. Tanya and John have a great cottage with all the amenities you could ask for as well as a fully stocked kitchen with complementary breakfast goods. The property itself was very charming, clean and well maintained. Communication from Tanya and John including their instructions were very clear and informative. They were a pleasure to deal with. Location wise, it is a stone's throw to the golf course and couple of minute drive from all the blackheath shops.
Great location with views and surrounded by gardens. Large windows on three sides of the comfortable stand-alone studio. Very well furnished with excellent kitchenette and very generous selection of complementary snacks, drinks, fresh fruit, cereals, teas etc. Lovely deck, friendly host and the freedom to wander around the gardens as well as a short drive to spectacular lookouts over the Grose Valley, or to Blackheath village.
Calamandah House was chosen for its location in Blackheath, which made it accessible to the Blue Mts walking tracks as this was largely a hiking holiday. The three bedrooms met the requirements of three individual adults ( as we were). The house is extremely well equipped in all respects, including an interesting library. Well kept grounds which would be quite picturesque in spring.
Location is an easy 10 minute walk to village with shops and restaurants. Can recommend Thai Silk.
Beautiful garden which will be fabulous in spring. Very comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen large dining table to accommodate a group. Lovely additional accommodation in the cottage to suit a group of eight altogether.
We love the amazing design, giving the house a vintage vibe and comfy to live in. It also provides us with everything we need and is also pet-friendly which makes our holiday trip a whole lot easier as many others do not allow pets. The location is also convenient to get food--only 15 minutes away from Katoomba.
This is not a luxury property, but it is clean and comfortable and has a homey feel. The two dedicated bedrooms were quite comfortable. Living spaces often double as sleeping areas so the property will sleep a lot of people. The kitchen is well enough equipped to serve up a good meal.
Beautiful location and cosy romantic cottage. We lived here 30 years ago so it was a delight to be able to return and share the experience with 2 of our grown children. Kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend.
Great hotel. Pet friendly which is a massive plus. Decent continental breakfast included and hot tub, sauna and tennis court a plus. Rooms are a decent size and the bed and pillows were super comfortable. Will definitely return.
So glad we discovered this cottage. It’s absolutely beautiful inside and out. An interior designer’s dream! We ended up staying just us a couple but look forward to bringing the family with us next time.
nicely decorated, warm, homely cottage with secure backyard with a pretty garden. lovely walk to the main shops and cafes of Blackheath. good heating options provided as it was a winter break.
Great location, but basic pub accomodation. Room was cheap and facilities basic. Great location though. Staff friendly, if a bit gruff - again good basic pub. Would stay here again.
